Jewelry Manufacturing Part 2

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Major fashion and sterling silver manufacturers such as the Shavonne Corporation incorporate all the newest technology to create the finest jewelry possible for an affordable price.  The master model maker is ultra important and must create an actual physical model from the VR.  This requires incredibly tedious hand crafting skills.  The model maker usually is unaware if any specific jewelry piece is being developed for the retail or wholesale market.  The model maker realizes any imperfections allowed in the master model will then cause an imperfect mold.

The finished model is then used to create very special molds for casting.  Ofttimes a ring is manufactured for the wholesale jewelry buyer in 7 actual sizes. This requires the work of an equally talented master mold maker. If the model maker miscalculates even the smallest amounts, the size will not be exact.  Let’s say you are looking to purchase a size 7 ring as that size always fits just right, but you try on one you really like, and it is marked size 7, and it doesn’t fit properly.  Ask the salesperson to use a steel ring sizer to measure the ring for you.  If the mold maker made a mistake, it could result in slightly larger or smaller than a true size 7.

Placing your order by Credit Card

  • Be sure that the name on the card is the same as the name in the billing address on your order.
  • We are unable to process your order if the two names do not match.
  • The verification code is located on the back of your card; it is the 3 digit code that we need to process your card.
  • Without the correct verification code your credit card will not process correctly.

  • If you send in a check or money order your order will ship out quicker if you go ahead and add the shipping and handling fees in with your payment.
  • When mailing a check or money order to Shavonne, the correct mailing address is PO Box 667, Etowah, TN 37331.

Placing your order by PayPal

  • We can only ship orders out to confirmed addresses.
  • There is no drop shipping for orders paid by PayPal.

Contact Information

  • Please be sure to put all correct contact information on your order.
  • Your order will process and ship out quickly if all the information is provided.
  • If for some reason the item you order is Out Of Stock I will email you or give you call to inform you of the item.
  • It is very important for you to check your email to get these messages and reply ASAP so I can get your order shipped to you.
  • If there is no response to my calls or emails within 3 business days your order will be canceled.

Hopefully this will be of some help to everyone! Thanks!

Discontinued or Out of Stock Items

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Good Day to Wholesale and Retail Customers!

I have just a few words about out of stock items and discontinued items that I would like to share.  We all hate to place an order and receive by email or phone, “I’m sorry we are out of stock on that item, or we no longer have that item because it has been discontinued,” but sometimes it does happen.  Sometimes a popular item will become out of stock without real warning.  We have ring orders placed weekly to ensure we are receiving stock on a regular basis.  So depending on when a style is ordered it may take from 4-6 weeks before we have it back in stock.  Some styles may not pass our inspection and they are returned to the factory for correction; adding an additional 4-6 weeks before it is back in stock.  I do understand how this may cause some frustration for all of our customers; however we want each and every customer happy with their purchase. These circumstances sometimes make it very hard to give an exact date when someone asks about a specific style or size as to when we will have it back in stock.

When it comes to discontinued items for our retail or wholesale it may show online but someone may have pulled it for another order.  Sometimes we have people who fax or email their orders.  Every order is done on a first in first out basis (yes even retail) so if someone in wholesale has faxed in a order on Monday and someone from retail orders online Monday night (even though it may show in stock)  it would go to the order pulled first.  Most orders that come in after 2PM are considered for the next day.  If you are a retail customer we try to email or call to see if you would like to make another selection or maybe another size.  If you are in Wholesale; we put the DC by the item number to let you know it is Discontinued.

It is always our intention to help each and every customer we have whether it be a wholesale customer, a future wholesale customer, or a retail customer.  No one customer is more important.  EACH AND EVERY CUSTOMER IS EQUAL AND ALL ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO EVERYONE HERE.  I look forward to talking with all our customers.  And I welcome any and all comments you may have to help us improve our service to our Wholesale and Retail customers.

History of Jewelry Manufacturing

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Archeologists have identified Incan methods, Egyptian methods, Native American methods, ad infinitum - dating to several thousand years.  Even going back to the very early times in America, jewelry manufacturing  was basically done by the talented village blacksmith.  This was the one craftsman used to working with heated metals, much as he created horseshoes.

Historically the oldest societies worked basically with their hands and rough hewn tools.  Until the adaptation of the modern computer in the 1970’s, surprisingly little had been done to “modernize” jewelry manufacturing.  All manufacturing began to change in a rather spectacular fashion with the new methods of creating fine and fashion jewelry made available by using a computer.

Much of the exquisite work of today is still initially designed by talented individual designers with paper and pencil.  The remainder of the most beautiful creations are created entirely in the computer.  Utilizing full 3-dimensional imagery has elevated so much of what we see today. Ring designers, for example, keep in mind what will be required for the manufacturer to exactly recreate their design.  The most modern manufacturers’ sample division can furnish the designer a virtually rendered (VR) image which is generated using some form of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.  This VR shows a computer generated image of what the fashion jewelry item will look like prior to making a sample and has become invaluable to modern day creations for manufacturing.

Over the next 2 to 3 Fridays, I will go into detail about the fashion jewelry manufacturing process that fuels our retail and wholesale jewelry business.
